It’s easy to get to Kirkfield and the Sir William Mackenzie Inn. Traveling from Toronto east on Highway 401, take the Brock Street (Hwy. 12) exit at Whitby and head north. About 50 minutes later you pass by a McDonald’s Restaurant and the exit for the town of Beaverton. Travel 5 more minutes north on Hwy 12, and County Road 48 turns east. You are just south of the Trent-Severn Waterway. Go east on 48, (through the village of Bolsover), for 10 minutes and you enter Kirkfield. You will find the Sir William Mackenzie Inn on the north side, just opposite the LCBO. If you’re travelling from north of Toronto, you may choose to pick-up Highway 404 to its northern end and then travel east to Highway 48 (Markham Road) and head north to Sutton. 48 turns east just outside Sutton. Stay on 48 through the intersection of Durham Road 23 at Port Bolster and carry on until 48 ends at Hwy. 12. Turn left (north) and you carry on Hwy. 12 north for 10 minutes until turning east on County Road 48 and coming into the village of Kirkfield 10 minutes later. For those traveling from Barrie or Orillia, you will come through Orillia toward the ‘Narrows’ on Hwy. 12 southwest toward Brechin and Whitby. You will continue on 12 past Rama Road (which leads to Casino Rama.) 20 minutes later having passed through the village of Brechin you will cross over the Trent Severn Waterway and turn left (east) on County Road 48. 10 minutes East on 48 you will enter Kirkfield. The Inn is on the north side opposite the LCBO. Traveling east from Peterborough, come along Hwy. 7 west through Omemee to Lindsay(30 min.) Hwy. 7 connects with Hwy. 35 north towards Coboconk and Minden. Follow 35 north for 20 minutes to Coboconk. Turn left (west) on County Road 48 and come west for 15 minutes into the village of Kirkfield. The Inn is on your right (north) opposite the LCBO. Enjoy the drive. Getting here is part of the fun. Typical drive times are as follows: Mississauga – 2 hours, Toronto – 1 1/2 hours, Newmarket, Barrie & Peterborough – 1 hour, Lindsay & Orillia – 1/2 hour.
